Dear Terri Gremillion pain in the middle of the chest or sternum can be due to heart burn or reflux; cardiac causes like angina ,heart attack; muscular causes ; joint pain where the ribs join with the sternum called costochondritis; respiratory causes like bronchitis, tuberculosis, pnuemonia etc. You might have to go for a blood tests, X-ray, ECG to rule out the causes. Get in touch with a doctor. Take care.
