Sorry about the late reply. After an ileostomy operation, some patients do have bowel movement from the rectum
but this bowel movement is nothing more than the left over stools present in the large portion of the
intestine from before the operation which is passing out. This will stop once the large intestines have all
cleared up from the old feces material which was present there. The normal bowel movement will only take place
through the ileostomy into the stoma bag. Hope this answers. Regards.
