Hi, late yesterday evening I noticed that one of my tonsils is split in half. It
is not painfull in anyway and does not affect my ability to swallow, however I
am concerned and would like to know what may have cause this?
You donít have to bother about your tonsil as it is not abnormal. The medial surface (surface we can see) of
our tonsil is covered with cells which dips into the substance of the tonsil in the form of small pits about
12-15 in number. Most of these are small and cant be seen but one of them called crypta magna is very big and
it traverses the whole breadth of the tonsil. This may give the look of the tonsil split in the middle.
Hope this helps you, thanks and regards!
