Hi, how are you? It is possible that you injured any of the structures in your knee (patella, ligaments, meniscus)and/or sustained a fracture in one or both of the bones in your legs (tibia/fibula) from that bad fall. I suggest you see a doctor right away for proper evaluation and management and don?t forget to splint/immobilize the extremity on your way to the doctor. Xray of the knee, leg bones (tibia/fibula) and ankle will aid in the diagnosis, and in certain cases a CT scan may be indicated especially for severely injured patients if the diagnostic information obtained from the Xray is not sufficient. Treatment depends on the severity. NSAIDs may be given to help ease the pain and swelling. Hope this helps. Take care and warm regards.
