What does it mean when you cough and it taste like blood but there is not blood and it sometimes taste like metal?

Hi, The reason could be that you ?taste? a little blood in your sputum. Blood has iron and this could be the metallic taste. You don?t have to actually see blood in the sputum if it is a minor amount. This could be due to an infection, a sinus infection or a lung infection. Sometimes trauma to the lungs can cause this or it could just be throat irritation. Would advise you to consult your primary care physician for evaluation and therapy
