Answer by Dr Veena, MD  on Thu 04, Jun 2009 12:42am:

Ovarian cysts could be due to follicular cysts, luteum cysts, endometriosis, dermoid cysts or malignant origin. Pain due to these cysts is not constant, it could be severe, sharp, sudden but transient. It could be experienced after intercourse, strenuous exercise, periods etc. But fullness and pressure in the abdomen can be experienced constantly due to increasing size. If there is constant pain, accompanied with nausea, vomiting, hypotension, tenderness in the abdomen, then there is a possibility of torsion of the cyst. This requires immediate medical attention. Take care.
