I have discomfort feeling sore around my anus / sphincter muscle. Could this be related to my prostate gland?

I have discomfort feeling sore around my anus / sphincter muscle. Could this be related to my prostate gland? I tend to feel discomfort at night. I have tried savlon but it is still there.

Hi. Yes, anal pain can be related to prostate if infection (bacterial prostatitis) is present. Prostatitis may manifest urinary difficulty, scrotal pain, bloody penile discharge, rectal fullness and frequent urge to defecate. However, with painful defecation and anal pain, anal fissure, abscess or stricture is more likely. Stool softeners, proper genital and anal hygiene, sitz baths, medicated creams or surgery may be helpful in managing anal pain and constipation. I suggest that you see your doctor to have this checked for best results. Hope this helps.
