HIV from open-mouth kissing, unaware if blood was involved. What are the risks?

I was wondering if HIV can be contracted from open-mouth kissing. I do not know if there was blood involved, but if by any
chance there was, am I at risk. Iam really scared and concerned.
Answer by Dr Veena, MD on Thu 29, Jan 2009 10:23am:
Transmission of HIV is through penetrative sex, from an infected pregnant mother to her child, unsterilised or
infected instruments usage and transfusion of infected blood products.
Open mouthed kissing carries very low risk of infection as saliva contains very less amount of the virus to
cause infection, but if blood was involved the risk goes higher.
