Hello. Pain during menstruation is common in females. This is called as dysmenorhea. Meftal spas contains
mefanamic acid and dicyclomine. Mefenamic acid is an non steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID). The common side
effects of mefanamic acid are dyspepsia, heart burn, gastric ulcer, bronchospasm, drowsiness, insomnia, renal
impairment, increase in WBC etc. The long term use of NSAID causes gastric and renal problems. Side effects of
dicyclomine are vision problems, glaucoma, palpitations, urinary retention, restlessness. I would suggest you
to consult a gynecologist for your chronic dysmenorrhea to rule out any other possible cause. Take care.
